GOOD NEWS!

John called just a few minutes ago as I was driving home from the grocery store and the dogs are holding their own, so much so that they have not received two of the only three vials of anti-venom that seems to be in the southeast. I don't know why it's such a rare thing, but apparently it is. They did not worsen (other than the swelling of their muzzles) on the way to Auburn and the vets there are monitoring some level of something (didn't make sense to me what J was saying about neuro and hemo toxins) in their blood. If they need the anti-venom, they will give it to them, but so far, not needed. John is driving home tonight (please pray he stays awake; he was yawning on the phone, but said he was going to go by McDonalds and get a big cup of coffee) and the vets will call us tomorrow and tell us when the dogs will be able to come home. There is talk of it being as early as tomorrow. I find that astounding considering they were bit by a rattlesnake (and John took the dead snake with him in an empty horse supplement bucket to Auburn and both our vet in Macon and the Auburn vet concur that yep, that's a baby rattler alright) that they might be well enough to come home that soon, but yay!

So, thanks for all your good wishes. I would answer them all personally, but please understand that I'm too drained. I do appreciate the prayers and good karma thoughts from so many.

Also, I left Kudzu and Astro in the house while I went to the grocery store and I'm tickled pink to report that Astro, the Destroyer of Worlds, Shredder of Magazines and Slayer of Snakes, was a good boy and did not destroy anything. Whoot! I think he's growing up. Astro has received lots of liver treats as reward. I don't think he associates liver treats with not destroying the house, but it sure made me feel better to give him and Kudzu treats galore tonight. :0)

hugs,
Kathleen
