Music from Palau, Moby, Kudzu and Doolizan Hounds

As I was driving home this afternoon, I was listening to NPR, as I do most everyday. I heard a story about the death of a Palau soldier who died in Afghanistan fighting for the US. Flanking the report was the sound of a woman singing, in Palau I guess, and it was so beautiful that it made me cry. You can hear it here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105490037

NPR notes that they don't have info on the music, but to check back in a few days. I will, oh I will.

And while you're visiting NPR, go listen to Moby's new album. You can't download it there, but you can hear the entire thing. I'm on the second track and I'll be adding this to my amazon wishlist. Hear it here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=105306540

Kudzu had his second round of chemotherapy today and the vet says that he's back in remission. This is fantastic news of course, but this month I've had vet bills that probably surpass the GNP of Burundi. There are two more weeks of chemo this month. This continues for months on end. It's been two years since Kudzu was first diagnosed with cancer and I'm grateful every day for those two years. There is no dog like Kudzu.

Just like there's no dog like Astro. Dr. Jennifer Miller, an equine vet who was here last week to float Asia's teeth and clean Ralph's sheath and dispense shots remarked to me that Astro looked like the Ibizan breed. I googled and yes, Astro really does, but for the amber eyes and flesh-colored nose. Got to this sentence and found myself nodding in agreement: The Ibizan Hound can jump very high from a complete standstill, enabling him to easily jump most fences. Oh yeah, that's Astro. I'd say Astro's that rare cross of Dooly Hound with Ibizan, which is known as Doolizan Hound.

Here's a picture off the web of an Ibizan hound:

And here is a picture of Astro. Not the best for comparison, but it was handy to upload. As you can tell, my Doolizan has a tough life.

I'm six tracks into Moby's album and it's good.
