Driving home from the LHThomson Company's mountain bike trail this evening, I snapped this photo of the Miata's odometer. I love all the 2222s and the one 3.
Jack went with me and here he is enjoying the ride home in the Miata. He was pretty pooped. He's turning into a decent trail dog as he stays behind the bike, keeps up with me, and likes to drink from the Camelbak when we stop. Kim and I did one loop on this summer solstice, which I celebrated in the woods. The best place to be.
Once, while stopped to let Jack drink and to discuss a tricky bump up ledge made so by some gnarly roots, I remarked to Kim how similar mountain biking is to riding a horse.1. Breathing keeps you relaxed, and your horse too. Grip too hard on the bike, you'll get too tense. Breathe and you'll relax. So will your squirrely, green pony, too.
2. Lean to turn.
3. Look where you want to go.
4. Momentum is often your friend and will get you through, in that it's over before you know it.
5. Your bike wants to stay upright. So does your horse. ;-)

We are sick women indeed. I like that number stuff, too. Whenever I see the date, I try to make some kind of connection amongst the numbers and figure how often that sort of combination might occur. Like 11/11/11...
I so wish to meet Jack; he looks like such a delightful dog.
