Bushwhacking With Wandering Woo

This is my dear friend, Wanda. I've called her Wandering Woo Woo since she was introduced to me that way back in 1989. If you want to go wander through the woods on an adventure, call Wanda as she, like I, is always up for it. Tonight, when the heat index was 114 degrees Farenheit (45 C for those of you elsewhere), we went out for a hike. We saw a deer, a frog, a bunny rabbit, and a coyote. We got scraped by blackberry thorns and sang my "Go Away Snake" song as we stomped through the parts that looked real snakey. What I love about that song is that it works because we didn't see any. Go Away, Snake! And they did. ;0)

I saw parts of south Bibb County I've never seen before and parts that I hadn't seen in ten years or more. Although Wanda had hiked most of our route before, she did, about an hour into the hike say to me, "Well, I'm not really sure how we're going to go from here," but that was ok because we've both spent so much time figuring out how to get from Point A to Point B while out in the woods, that we just shrugged and headed off in the general direction we wanted and when we came to a large drainage ditch that was going that way, we both jumped in it at the same time and took off.

It's nice to bushwhack with the like minded. We've only got half a mind a piece, but between us we do ok.

Here's a link to my Garmin stats for this hike. Click on the "view details" to be magically transported to all the graphs and charts and super cool stuff.

Isn't this cute? It's a wee, baby earth roller! I guess it's a remote control because I don't see anyplace for the operator to sit.

They're building a new football field behind Rutland High School and this cutie patootie was there, along with the big one behind it.

When we went back into the woods, we saw a coyote. Sorry, he was too far away for me to get a picture, although I tried. Very blurry. It's been deleted from this world.

As we came out of the woods on our way back to the start, I noticed this house.

It looks like a mosaic of siding choices for that, my friends, is what it is. There's vinyl on the far left, that lovely faux stone in the center topped with stucco, and then brick. It's as though they got quite the deals at Lowe's from week to week and just couldn't decide. Heck, it's their house, so why not have it all?

I love to go on walks with Wanda.

Oh, and since I ran 2.5 miles this morning and then wore my pedometer all day, my stats for today are stellar! Here they are:

23,123 steps (this makes up for the day before yesterday's poor showing of only 7,031)
Total miles walked/run today: 9.12

Not bad. I should sleep well tonight.

I had to laugh at your house photo...I have never seen a place like that either, and you have to wonder what they were thinking there!

I've seen more coyotes where I live than usual this year. I think our cool summer is encouraging more activity during the day for a lot of wildlife.
