Wisdom on my fridge door

I like to write, which should be apparent by now. I use this blog mostly to chronicle India's progress, my adventures with horses and what I'm learning, and events such as road races that I do. I post poems that I like. I don't write much that's introspective, at least not here. I do have a notebook that I pour my heart out in and it's very cathartic. Fear not, you're not about to get a long post about the emotional turmoil of my life. I won't bore you because really, if you want melodrama, I suggest the television. That said, I've been reading a lot lately about what it means to be a better person and how to do that and I've been writing down some of the quotes I've seen that I'm going to share with you now because they struck a chord for me. Feel free to hit the back arrow now or go look at I Can Haz Cheeseburger. After all, dogs are funny!

Our task is to say a holy yes to the real things of our life. - Natalie Goldberg

Each of us literally chooses, by his way of attending to things, what sort of universe he shall appear to himself to inhabit - William James

We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance. - Japanese proverb

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. - Rumi

The trick is not how much pain you feel but how much joy you feel. Any idiot can feel pain. Life is full of excuses to feel pain, excuses not to live, excuses, excuses, excuses. - Erica Jong

Ever notice that what the hell is always the right decision? – Anon. Hollywood scriptwriter

That last one leads right to my fridge door, where you'll find this:

What is there not to love about this woman? Nothing. Bravo to her for bravely stepping into all that mud in those white sandals for no doubt what's waiting for her past all that mud is worth it.

And this one, too. Yeah, so the truth. I doubt that I'll ever figure out the plot, but thank you all for making the story so very interesting and being excellent cast members.

And here's another. "Amen." I shout. Get up off the couch, dance!, go ride the horse, take the run, get on the bike and ride off the big drop. Ponder life, read good books, blast your radio up loud and sing along with Queen, make the chicken pot pie, take a walk on the Thomson trails with your pups, laugh at the funny dogs and buy your own words of wisdom for your fridge at Fridgedoor. I've got a few more on my fridge, but that's enough for now.

Amen Sister. You can quote me too, as I said, "It's a big life to live in such a short amount of time." and Nike, who stole so go "just do it."
