I'm a winner!

I won this!! A bicycle-shaped object!!!

Last weekend I visited the local Freshway grocery store that opened in Byron about six months ago. The Giant Food Store has been here forever and was dirty, the selection slim, but they had a lock on things. The Giant is hanging on, despite my predictions that the Freshway would do it in, but I digress.

So, last weekend this bike is parked in the produce section with a neon yellow sign that said "Register to win! Given away by CocaCola and Freshway!" As I'm going through the checkout line, I run into Karen Sisk, a road biker of great renown, and we catch up on things and I ask if she's going to register for the give away. She declines, but I register because what are the odds. Really, what are the odds? And the bike is sponsored by Coca Cola and I own stock in Co'cola, so really, I must register.

Today my cell phone rings and it's the manager of the Freshway calling to tell me I've won. GET OUT! So, on my way home tonight, I stop by the Freshway and I thank the manager for this lovely bike and I buy some more (diet) Co'cola, some diet Mountain Dew for John, who is returning from Austria a day early, and the latest edition of People because it's got Jaycee Dugard on the cover and I'm oddly fascinated by this story and sometime a girl just has to have gossip. I thank the manager again for the bike and he calls Kevin up to the front to roll it out for me and Kevin loads it in our truck. Thank goodness as this bicycle-shaped object weighs a ton.

Tonight I rode a Trek Fuel EX8 WSD that the Trek rep brought to The Bike Store in WR. I liked it. Please don't tell the Klein, but as she is getting long in the tooth, I'm starting to think about what bike I'll get to replace her. It won't be for some time yet as chemotherapy for Kudzu and a new Mac have taken all my spare cash, but when the time comes, the Fuel EX 8 is going to get some serious consideration.

Yes, I have my new Co'cola bike, but it's just too heavy, even if I remove the kickstand, and I'll probably end up giving it away to Toys for Tots so some child can enjoy it, but only after I have John rebuild it. The guys from the Freshway are much better at selling food than putting together bikes. The front brake? Might as well as not be there for all its effectiveness.

OK, now that I've won the bike, please, can I win the MegaMillions???
