Some Good Among It All

Jenny rode India for the first time in three weeks and to say that India was a bit fresh is a bit of an understatement. The round pen was too muddy, so all work was done in the large arena, including working India loose. She charged around getting her ya-ya's out, but Jenny was able to get her to focus and do some nice transitions and cease the wild horse act.

(As always, click on any picture to see it larger.)

Here she is at the start with full blown Ya Yas.

India begins to calm down. This canter was much less frenetic than the one above.

Here she's asking India to turn towards her and do so calmly.

India did.

Only then did Jenny mount.

In this picture, Jenny is asking India to soften in her mouth while Jenny is taking a feel of her mouth. Yes, contact! And India does it. Smart girl.

Look closely for Wendy's ears to appear in frame.
India has progressed to tiny temper tantrums now that she realizes that this riding stuff is here to stay. Several time she refused to go forward, wheeling in place and pushing back. Jenny is incredibly patient with this baby behavior and calmly asks India to move her feet and move them forward. I was on Wendy and would shake the flag on cue, providing more energy for India to move forward. India tested Jenny several times and then realized that it's easier to do the work asked of her than to pitch a fit, so after she moved forward nicely in both directions, Jenny called it quits for the day.

A bath was in order.

The POTU enjoys having her face brushed.

Back to the pasture to be a pasture ornament.

Little temper tantrums or not, she really looks lovely going 'round! I caught Wendy's ears too!

Hard to believe how far she's come!
