So very much to share with you

This past weekend was full of all sorts of glee. Let's start with India and the lesson she had with Jenny.

All horses have one side that they prefer that the humans work from, one direction they prefer to go. With India, it's her right side. She works hard trying to avoid tracking left in the round pen when Jenny asks. So, Jenny asks and asks. Watch how Jenny uses her body to block and thwart India's attempts to track right in this video. When India finally gives in and goes left, Jenny stands back and lets her go. India, sweetness, it really is so much easier to go left than to fight going left. India is learning that, but sometimes she forgets.

Cool action vid, no?

Here are some pics of Jenny working India in the round pen using the rope. This rope is just wonderful for it teaches India to give to pressure. But let's start with Jenny twirling the rope. Jenny looks cool twirling the rope. This rope twirling keeps India out on the rail.

Changing Direction

Jenny always praises India for doing well

Asking India to yield to the pressure and turn.

And India does.

Jenny asks India to do it again.

Jenny keeps asking.

Patiently asking POTU to yield and turn.

India's turning here.

After sufficient ground work, Jenny bridled India and moved to the arena.

Trotting along. Note that India transitions from trot to a walk without a one-rein stop. Progress!

Cantering along nicely below.

Opening and closing gates provide all sorts of schooling opportunities for a young horse.

And in this video, Jenny explains the benefits of opening and closing gates.

Note the dogs running around for India to ignore. Again, dogs are no big deal for her. Also, see how Jenny rubs India's neck in praise when she's finished closing the gate? Praise is good.

Then a walk down to the pond and India walks through the spill stream. Note the hoof directly in the water rather than stepping over!

I am so very, very pleased with how well India is doing and count myself fortunate to have Jenny working with her.
