Hitchiti Trail Hike
There was too much rain today to haul a horse anywhere. Actually, the rain is fine, especially when it's this warm, it's the mud that kept us from meeting up. It's just not worth risking a slip and fall for a pleasure ride. So, since I was near the Hitchiti when I finished feeding and grooming (pics of India's incredible mane to come soon), I headed over to the Hitchiti and took off down the trail. It's 3.2 miles round trip. I spent close to two hours because I meandered. I stopped and took lots of pictures of all the fungus I saw. I got drenched from the rain on the way out and all the wet foliage I had to brush through going out and back. I didn't see anyone else out there and from the log in book it's clear that it's too hot for most folks as the traffic has dropped off a lot. It was so overgrown that I sang my "Slither Away, Snake" song all too often. It worked because I didn't see a one. Richard says that I should be more worried about ticks, and statistically he's right, but other than being annoying, ticks don't scare the bejeesus out of me like snakes do. Jack is undergoing a killer heart worm treatment, so he's on exercise restriction for two months. I don't know who's going crazier from his enforced slothdom. So, since he wasn't with me, I made the most of it and went for a hike. Here, look at the pictures, in no particular order, either.
