John and I at the start. Self portrait, can you tell? *g*
We did the 5k (3.1 miles) this morning. I ran the entire thing, which was my goal. Last time I ran it was (I believe) 1999 and although I'd run the San Francisco Marathon in July 1997 and the Atlanta Half Marathon that Thanksgiving, I'd pretty much quit running and switched to cycling. Leslie talked us into running the 5k that year and I'm here to tell you that cycling does not use the same muscles as running. I had to walk the St. Paul's hill then. Not today. I ran it. My speed was slow, but I don't mind. My goal was to run the entire thing and that's what I did. So sad to think that I have run a pretty hilly marathon and quite a few halfs and now I'm all excited about completing a 5k. Silly me, but I am. Use it or lose it as they say.
Wanda! Here I am with Wandering Woo Woo at the finish. Woo and I ran together for many years with the Perry Hash House Harriers.
Another Wanda, but not the Wandering kind. It's Wanda from work. She, Craig and I all work together in Licensing Land.
I found myself ordering a pair of running tights last week from Sierra Trading Post. I have this silly notion that I'm going to keep getting up early and running before I go to work. Stay tuned to see if that holds true.
The nice thing about running so early is that I can enjoy the virtuous feeling all day long. It's overcast and not a good day for being on a bike or a horse. I think I'll laze around the house and read.
