Riding home from another fun day in Licensing Land and I opted to listen to NPR, which is why I'm writing here. Most days I choose to listen to my iPod, and usually the playlist that I choose is called Stuff I Might Like More Than Other Stuff. But no, tonight it was NPR. I had a great time listening to the story about the Scripps Spelling Bee and I think the final is on ABC tonight and the finals and semi-finals were on ESPN. I'm tickled pink that spelling is a televised sport. Yay, spelling! But what really got my goat was hearing that the military dictatorship in control of Burma* is acting like a bunch of asshats**. They are kicking people out of the few refugee camps they've allowed and are sending them back home with some bamboo poles and tarps and telling them to go build a shelter and that they'll be fine. There is no way: the fields were inundated with salty water. Nothing will grow. The rulers of Burma have no claim to call themselves human.
*I refuse to call the country Myanmar, as that name was chosen by these despotic rulers. It will be Burma for me until a free election by the people designate another name.
**I can see you now rolling your eyes and asking "And how is today's behavior any different from their earlier asshattery?" Good question and it's not, but on the sliding scale of inhumane behavior with the grade of 1 being given to those who don't use their turn signals and 100 being given to Hitler, the Burmese generals score in the high 90s. They just keep piling it on and going for the gold star. /end of the political rant. Let's move onto the fluffy, shall we?
Ok, here's a record you need to go buy. It's John Hiatt! http://tinyurl.com/3vjuyg Let's try a hot link, shall we, just for kicks and grins? Click here-> (EDITED TO ADD: GAH! The tiny URL isn't working. What is it with Blogger? Oy. Cut and paste into your browser or just go to amazon and search for John Hiatt. The first album that pops up is what you want. Wait, you really want all of his albums. That's right. You do. You most certainly do.)
The review from the AP is glowing, and the reviews from amazon customers are pretty good. I do agree with the reviewer who said that it's hard to top Master of Disaster, but I'm a huge fan of Hiatt so it's in my cart.
Tomorrow I'm meeting Jenny at Katie's to work with India. Maybe she'll try getting on her and India's life will change even more than it has with being saddled. Or maybe not. Jenny and I both agree that we're not going to rush things with the POTU. I'm in no hurry and I want India's training to be thorough, not rushed. Either way, there will be pictures. Tonight? Dinner with friends and then Battlestar Galactica. Some friends of mine have downloaded tonight's ep off the web and it's created quite a stir, but I'm spoiler free. Can't wait to watch.
Peace, kids.

India appeared to think that having a human on her back was old hat. I guess in her way of reasoning that if she was going to have to endure a saddle, then having a human as well was no big deal. Anyway, I am proud of her. Momma
